ISSUED BY THE CONCERNED CITIZENS MOVEMENT

On Sunday 22nd August, 2010, the Concerned Citizens Movement held its Convention at the Old Manor Hotel in Gingerland, Nevis. The event was held under the theme “ Operation Rescue Continues, Putting Nevis Back On Track”. Chaired by Mr. Spencer Brand, the massive turnout of Party supporters reflected a very upbeat and energized Party. The formal business of the event ratified decisions that were taken by the Party’s Caucus on Sunday 8th August, 2010. The Executive Committee was formally installed and is comprised as follows:

Chairman: Stedmond Tross

Deputy Chairman: Keith Scarborough

Party Leader: Vance Amory

Deputy Leader: Mark Brantley

2nd Deputy Leaders: Michael Perkins and Alexis Jeffers

Secretary: Livingston Herbert

Treasurer: Oscar Walters

Press Secretary: Mervin Hanley

The Convention also ratified nine persons who were selected as floor members representing the various constituencies. Mr. Collin Tyrell was appointed as the Campaign Coordinator for the up-coming election campaign.
The Convention tabled two Resolutions both of which were passed without objection or change:

i) That the Executive Committee recommended by the Caucus be accepted.

ii) That the Party’s Convention be held every two years in the month of August.

The members were entertained by items of poetry and song from Party supporters and informed by rousing speeches by the Party Chairman Mr. Stedmond Tross, Party Leader the Honourable Vance Amory, Deputy Leader the Honourable Mark Brantley. Messrs. Michael Perkins, Alexis Jeffers, Mr. Mervin Hanley, Collin Tyrell and other Party Members also made brief presentations to the Convention.

The event ended on a most fitting note with the entire gathering holding hands with singing the popular negro spiritual “We Shall Overcome”!
